What Should a Buyer Include in an RFQ for a Precision Rolled Threaded Steel Bar System?
Use this checklist when sourcing a threaded steel bar system and related nuts, connectors and plates from China. The goal is to reduce ambiguity before supplier review and quotation.
Minimum RFQ Information
Provide as much of the following as the project controls.
- Drawing, BOM, approved sample reference or project specification
- Bar diameter and required length
- Thread form / thread system if specified
- Required material or grade
- Matching nut dimensions and quantity
- Connector / coupler details and quantity
- Plate dimensions, thickness and hole details
- Required finish or corrosion requirement
- Applicable project standard, approval or certification requirement
- Quantity by item
- Packing, marking and traceability requirements
- Inspection, test or document requirements
Why a Product Name Is Often Not Enough
Supplier catalogs can use different English names for similar-looking engineering components.
A drawing or BOM helps confirm which bar, nut, connector and plate are intended to work together. It also prevents CHS from treating a visual catalog identity as a verified engineering specification.
What CHS Will Not Assume
These details must be supported by buyer requirements or reliable documentation.
- Load capacity or allowable working performance
- Mechanical properties
- Material grade or chemistry
- Certification or project approval
- Compliance with a named standard
- Application suitability
Final specifications are confirmed against the buyer's drawing, BOM, project standard or RFQ.
